Low/Mid/High Rise Pants

Today I’m talking about the balancing act between the pros and cons of low, mid and high rise jeans.
.
Low Rise: For me personally I find low rise to be uncomfortable, and least concealable, but it certainly has its pros. Wearing low rise jeans gives you slightly quicker access to your gun because you don’t have to clear your garment as high, and your shoulders don’t have to come up as much to get a good grip.
Mid Rise: Like most medium things...mid rise is sort of the best of both worlds. It brings the gun up (for me) just high enough to conceal well, but keeps it just low enough to still allow for a fairly seamless draw.
High Rise: Personally I find that this rise tends to be most comfortable for me about 95% of the time, as well as the most concealable. The problem with high rise (10+ inches for me) is that it forces to clear your garment much higher and requires more body movement in general, which typically slows your draw time.
.
Each rise option has its pros and cons. It’s important to consider those things, but additionally you should consider which option will lead to you carrying most frequently (if not daily). If you find that your draw is quicker with one option, but that option is also wickedly uncomfortable then you’ll choose not to carry. This is why I personally choose not to wear low rise. Either way, test out all three options, time yourself, and come up with a reasoned decision to choose one over the other. You might be surprised!
