No WML for Me!
“Why DON’T you have a weapon mounted light on your EDC gun!?”
Because it’s not a requirement, and it negatively affects my mobility and concealment.
Although, I still very much see the value, and necessity, in having a light, just not a weapon mounted one. I carry a handheld light for many reasons, one of those being threat/target identification. The handheld light allows me to identify what is in someone’s hand, or whether or not they’re a threat, regardless of the lighting conditions WITHOUT the possibility of pointing a gun at someone who may or may not be threatening me.
“It’s better to have it and not need it, than to not have it and need it.”
Not necessarily.
If carrying a WML is of no consequence to you and you know how to utilize it responsibly, then go for it, but that is not going to be universal across all concealed carriers. Having a WML negatively affects what I can conceal and how well I can conceal it. For me it is the difference between a gun I am comfortable shooting, and something much smaller that I am less consistent with, in order to maintain my desired level of concealment.
Not only that, but to get a light that isn’t inadequately bright for my 48MOS, I would be severely restricting my holster options and likely degrade in holster quality.
