Natural Fibers For Concealment

Wool: Today I’m talking about wool, how it conceals, how it performs in the wind and how it’s perfect for the months ahead! For some people wool just has too much of a scratch to it. I hear ya, I use to feel the exact same way. I won’t settle for anything besides merino wool, because anything else is just a scratch fest. During the winter months it can be your best friend, both for concealment and warmth. I’ve found that when I wear cashmere or wool I can either forget about wearing a jacket altogether or I can opt for a smaller less bulky jacket. Wool allows you to conceal with no problem, but it also can help to keep you from having to stack the layers on, which in turn can keep you from having to clear layers upon layers of clothing if you ever had to draw your weapon. Stay cozy...but you know...stay frosty too...

Linen: We had a wind storm yesterday and I thought it would be a perfect time to show you how well linen conceals in the wind. In the video you can see my belt as the wind blows against my stomach, but the linen doesn’t concave around the gun the same way. Linen is the perfect fabric if you’re having a hard time concealing. You can even get linen/wool blend shirts like this, which are perfect for both structure and warmth in the coming months.

Silk: I love silk for concealing. It’s one of the best, and the best part is that it’s both comfortable in the winter and in the summer. Silk is what lets me wear spaghetti strap tank tops in the summer while also concealing the 19 or the 42. Silk is a very unique fabric. As someone who thrifts most of their clothes I have come to pick up a few things about how different companies design their silk, wool and cashmere products to produce VERY different levels of quality. One of the simplest and easiest ways to figure out if the 100% silk top you’ve found is actually quality silk is by feeling it’s weight. No seriously, move it around in your hand, if it’s heavy then it’s quality, if it’s light and almost airy it tends to be on the lower quality end. This isn’t 100% true 100% of the time, but it’s a simple test that works nicely for me. The top I’m wearing here is very much a heavy silk, although I do keep lighter weight silks in my closet for the summer months 👍🏻
